Pitstop is an iPhone road trip companion that helps you find worthwhile stops while you drive. This policy explains the current pre-launch app and website behavior. It will be updated before any account system, cloud trip sync, paid subscription, or broader public launch.
Information we collect
If you request early access on this website, we collect the email address you submit, the signup source, the page path, and a server-recorded version and time of your email opt-in so we can manage launch interest. We do not ask for sensitive personal information on this website.
The current iOS app processes your location on your device when you start Pitstop Mode, use Explore Nearby, or use internal road-test tools. Explore Nearby requests one fresh location to rank curated places around you. The app does not currently upload live GPS fixes, nearby-search locations, inferred route position, personal trip history, or road-test diagnostic logs to Supabase or another Pitstop server.
Trip memories, private notes, imported photos, saved-stop status, and road-test diagnostic events are stored locally on your device in the current build. Imported photos are re-encoded before saving so unnecessary metadata is removed.
Location and notifications
Pitstop asks for location access so it can estimate what stops are ahead while Pitstop Mode is active and find curated places around you when you open Explore Nearby. Explore Nearby uses a separate one-time location request and does not start Pitstop Mode. Granting permission does not start a drive by itself; you choose when to start or stop Pitstop Mode.
Pitstop asks for notification permission so iOS can show stop notifications during a drive. A notification may include the name of a nearby stop and distance context on your lock screen or in CarPlay notification surfaces if iOS allows it.
Website data
With your permission, this site uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate visits and interactions so we can improve Pitstop. Google Analytics may collect session statistics, approximate location, browser and device information, and a first-party client identifier stored in the _ga cookie. Google uses an IP address to derive approximate location before discarding it. Pitstop disables Google signals and advertising-personalization signals in this implementation.
Google Analytics does not load unless you select “Allow cookies.” Your choice is stored locally in your browser. This static site does not use advertising trackers or cross-site tracking cookies.
Cloudflare Turnstile processes request and browser signals to protect the early-access form from abuse. Our hosting and server providers may process standard request data such as IP address, browser type, requested pages, and timestamps to deliver and secure the site. Pitstop stores only a keyed one-way fingerprint, not the raw address, in its waitlist rate-limit counter.
Data sharing
We do not sell personal information. Pitstop may use Supabase to store early-access requests, Loops to manage contacts and send updates after consent is confirmed, Cloudflare to host the website and protect its public form, and Google Analytics to measure website usage after analytics permission is granted. The iOS app uses Apple platform services such as location, notifications, MapKit, and Apple Maps links; data handled by Apple is governed by Apple's policies.
We do not currently use third-party advertising SDKs, data brokers, or cross-app tracking in the iOS app.
Your choices
You may decline optional website analytics when the preference notice appears. You can reset a saved analytics choice by clearing site data for getpitstopapp.com in your browser.
You may decline location or notification permission and can change those permissions in iOS Settings. You can stop Pitstop Mode from inside the app. You can delete local trip photos individually, clear local road-test event history from internal tools, or delete the app to remove local app data from the device.
You may request removal from early-access emails through the unsubscribe method included with those messages or by emailing [email protected] from the address you used to sign up.
Children
Pitstop is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy as Pitstop develops. The revision date above will reflect the latest version.
